In the winter I use flannel or microfiber sheets. Love to snuggle up in the cold. Once spring hits, I want to sink into coolness when I go to bed. Because I’m in my mid 50’s, my internal temperature has no rhyme nor reason. In warmer seasons I have to have linens that don’t hold in the heat. I’ve always used cotton, I’ve never tried a silk sheet. I don’t know if I can ever go back to anything else, winter or summer.
My first impression out of the package was along the lines of WOW. They were gorgeous. The burgundy red color was so regal. The hems were perfect and the way there were finished, the ends were flush, there was going to be no irritation. The pillow cases were super-sized. How the size fit was going to be determined after their first wash.
I washed them on warm and put them in the dryer. They dried quickly. Inspection afterwards showed no piling, no gathers in the hems or seams, still perfect. I wanted them to be as wrinkle free as possible, so I put them on the wrinkle free setting in the dryer. When it chimed that it was done I took out the bottom sheet but kept the rest going. I took it right back to the bed and put it on. Unfortunately, it wrinkled quickly during that time. Not bad, but it didn’t look as nice as when I first took it out. To me that’s not a big deal, my bed isn’t for presentation, it’s for comfort. They’re going to be wrinkled in minutes anyway.
I have a California King, which is the size I ordered. Even after washing, these have plenty of length to them. I had no problems putting them on, I didn’t have to tug and stretch at all. I included pictures showing just the bottom sheet on, and you can see that there is still some looseness. That’s a plus because it’s not hard to put them on, and they don’t pop off the corners. It’s a negative if you want presentation, because being loose, the wrinkles are still a little visible.
The top sheet also had good length to it. I like my sheet pulled clear up to the top of the bed with a little extra because I like to really snuggle down into them and want plenty of coverage. I pulled them way up, and they were still touching the floor at the bottom. Now the sides could have been a little wider for my taste, but they did come down the full height of the top mattress. They’re ok, but again, I want to make sure I have plenty of coverage, and if two people are adding the height of their bodies under the sheets you’re going to have enough coverage, but I like just a little more.
The pillow cases were still as long as when I first opened them. I have king sized pillows and look at my pics, plenty of length left. Wow. I can’t say they would fit my body pillow but they are sure going to fit the longest regular pillow ever.
So, I was excited to actually try them out. It was a little interesting making the bed because the sheets slide around. I wondered if I was going to slide around! Especially my pillows. I read or watch tv in bed at night and use two pillows. Was I going to be constantly putting them back in place? I don’t sleep with two pillows so I wasn’t worried about that, but I want to relax at bedtime, not fight with pillows. I purposely wore slick clothing to bed. I wore a pair of those slick yoga pants and one of those slick tshirts that are moisture wicking. No exaggeration, I don’t know if I can describe the feeling when I first got into bed. I can’t find the perfect words. It felt like I was sinking into them. They had a thicker, more cushiony feel, so soft. Beyond soft. I did not slide around. I really can’t come up with the right description, but I am serious when I say I don’t think I can go back to any other type of sheet. Not to be too descriptive, but I woke up this morning with my shirt still dry. They did not hold in the heat, but I was definitely warm all night. Nice – less laundry and I won’t have to change my sheets in the middle of the week. I didn’t wake up with pillow creases on my face. The pillows really did not shift around much while I was reading. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to that, I actually forgot about that concern. So, it was obviously a non-issue. I slept amazing. And that is a feat in itself. Thankfully today was my day off so when I woke up, I was able to lay in bed for awhile and just appreciate these sheets. I will be going back to purchase more of these. I purchased them on Groupon and got an excellent price. A few years ago, I got my son some sheets for Christmas. He told me that he and his wife are extremely picky about their sheets, but the ones I purchased for them they liked. I’m really going to wow them this year.
I don’t know what else to say to convince – you have to try them yourself. I know it’s going to be much more difficult for me to climb out of bed and it’s going to be amazing going to sleep each night.
